SteriPEN™ UV Water Purifiers

We got product donations from SteriPEN!!

Thanks to everyone over at SteriPEN™ for their very generous donation of two portable UV water purifiers for our River Gambia Expedition –  SteriPEN Sidewinder™ (battery-free) and the SteriPEN Adventure Opti http://www.steripen.com/adventurer-opti  and  http://www.steripen.com/sidewinder

We used a SteriPEN™ on our 2009 expedition, when we walked 930km around The Gambia, West Africa. They are light and portable and extremely invaluable when often the only water on offer is from open, uncovered wells – where all manner of creatures are known to fall in and rot…thus contaminating the water. The SteriPEN™ ultraviolet light zaps and purifies water in about a minute – eliminating over 99.9% of viruses and bacteria that cause waterborne illnesses. On this next journey, when the only water that might be available to us will be from the River Gambia itself, we are stoked to have the handy little gadgets in our backpacks.

Thank you SteriPEN™!
