Latest backer for the River Gambia Expedition: Artist, Chris Shaw-Hughes

Chris contacted Jason Florio  a few months back to ask his permission to recreate one of his images from Beirut, of the heavily damaged – during the ‘Battle of the Hotels’ in the mid-70’s – Holiday Inn.

‘My practice revolves ‘artistically’ around the engagements between painting and other mediums – primarily, but not exclusively photography – and the ways in which we are affected by the mass media’s treatment of news events involving trauma‘. Chris Shaw-Hughes

Thanks so much to Chris (and everyone else who has jumped on board with us) for his support for the River Gambia Expedition, through our Kickstarter Campaign – and for his phenomenal recreation of Florio’s photograph.
